“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears”. Matthew 10:28
Are you one of the people that constantly place their bibles under their pillows when going to bed? The word of God will not fly from there into your brain. No! Or do you belong to the group that fails to seek Him and only open their bibles to Psalm 23 and place it on the bed when going out? It doesn’t work that way either. His power will not just come like that. Hear this: “The hand of God is upon all them for good that seek Him; but His power and His wrath is against all them that forsake Him.” Ezra 8:22
Meditate on Psalms 105: 4
Seeking the Lord means seeking His presence. “Presence” in Hebrew means “face”. Matthew 28:20 says He is always present with His children in the sense of His covenant commitment to always stand by us and work for us and turn everything for our good. But there is a sense in which God’s presence is not with us always. There are seasons when we become neglectful of the Lord and give Him no thought and do not put trust in Him and at that point we no longer see His face—the brightness of His personal character, all because of our carnal desires.
As every day passes by, our focus must change. Rather than await a call to meet the Savior in the temple, why not learn to discover God in the tiny details of life and not wait till you meet Him at a time you cannot predict? Why have you not gone looking for Him now that He can be found? Psalms 105: 4 says daily should you seek Him till the end of time… and not daily shall He wait us.
“Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near:” Isaiah 55:6. Some of us still believe that we have the power and wherewithal to take absolute decisions concerning our lives. This is a wrong notion. You need to get married, you need a new home, a new car, buy some clothes, travel to a specific place, go for a particular course, take up an appointment….the list is endless. The Almighty God can be found to give you the right direction and decision if only you seek from Him while He may be found. He will give you a clear direction on the steps to take and He will add no sorrow to it. He gives you an insurance cover over every risk and hazard (Daniel 3: 19 – 27).
You might be wondering what you will be gaining if you decide to seek the Lord. Hey! Worry no more. The assurance of the Lord in Luke 11: 9-10 and Matthew 7: 7 & 8 are not just there for you to see but to experience. The simple fact is that He owns everything and for you to have all you need, you need Him to dispense them (II Kings 2: 9-15 and Ezekiel 37: 1-12). If only you seek Him then will you be a beneficiary.
Look at it this way.
Elijah had prayed that it might not rain (James 5:17-18) and it came to pass among many other things recorded of him because he knew the Lord is faithful and cannot deny Himself (2 Tim 2:13) and because he sought the face of God at all time so the power of God was made manifest.
Should we talk about the three Hebrew men Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as found in Daniel 3? This is not the power of man but of God.
Oh! How about Apostle Peter? He was fervent and had burning desires for God and he did great exploits in the name of the Lord.
Apostle Paul too! He spoke so much about the coming great apostasy. He responded to God’s efficacious call after encountering Him on his way to Damascus and accepted Christ. A look into the gospel according to the book of Acts will reveal a lot.
The Lord wants to bring salvation to your home. Seek Him and get the lost years restored. If however your name can still be ascribed to the following categories:
The Proud Proverbs 6: 16- 19. (Things that will make you not to see Him)
Those who don’t pay their tithe (Deut 14:22-23, Mal 3:8-11)
Those who don’t honor God (Luke 6:38)
Adulterers (Deut 22:22)
Fornicators (1 Cor 5:11)
then you cannot see His face. The only option you have is to surrender all to Him.
God wants you to be a member of His family. All He wants from you is to retrace your steps and come back home. (Luke 19: 1-10). Rise up! Flee your preoccupations. Hide yourself for a time from your turbulent thoughts. Cast aside, now, your heavy responsibilities and put off your burdensome business. Make a little space free for God and rest in Him. Enter the inner chamber of your mind; shut out all thoughts. Keep only the thoughts of God and thoughts that can aid you in seeking Him. Close your door and seek Him. Speak now with your whole heart! Speak now to God, saying, “I seek Your face; Your face, Lord, will I seek. And come You now, O Lord my God, teach my heart where and how it may seek You, where and how it may find You”.
If truly you have taken this decision, the glory of God will continue to shine upon your life. He is near. Seek Him now before you can no longer do. Through seeking Him you will experience His awesome power. You will not miss it in Jesus name. Amen.
